Alupro Ireland’s Tea Light Hunt campaign, launched in conjunction with retailer IKEA and WEEE Ireland, seeks to encourage recycling of used tea light holders in the Greater Dublin area and includes some fun activities for children.

A collection challenge and a colouring competition for 2nd to 4th classes have been initiated, with colouring sheets distributed to local schools and available at IKEA’s Dublin store. Within the first two months of the campaign over 1,200 entries were submitted.

Cti Castings: Board appointment

A new drive to help foundries to boost quality, reduce costs and cut waste, while producing greener, cleaner castings, has been unveiled by Castings Technology International (Cti).

Cti, based on the Advanced Manufacturing Park at Catcliffe, near Sheffield, specialises in helping castings companies to solve problems and improve production. The organisation also supplies the high value manufacturing sector with low volume, precision steel, superalloy and titanium castings that would otherwise be difficult to source.

LME releases results of consultation on queue-based rent capping

The London Metal Exchange (LME) has announced its intention to introduce a cap on the rent that can be charged by an LME-approved warehouse for metal held in a delivery queue, and an increased minimum load-out rate for metal stored in LME warehouses.

The LME’s decision comes in response to market-wide discussion and consultations.

The Aluminum Association has released Aluminum in Green Buildings: A Guide to Green Building Development and Certification with Aluminum Products.

The new guide features information on aluminium’s unique properties for use in building and construction, as well as data on the metal’s life-cycle characteristics and environmental performance.

Alcoa has announced executive management appointments for the future Upstream and Value-Add Companies, expected to become effective upon completion of Alcoa’s previously announced separation in the second half of 2016.

Houghton International Inc., has announced that its board of directors has appointed Mike Shannon (pictured) as chief executive officer effective January 1, 2016.
