Aluminum Association’s Heidi Brock Named Second Vice Chairman of NAM’s Council of Manufacturing Associations
CEO Representing $65 Billion Aluminum Industry to Provide Leadership on U.S. Manufacturing
ARLINGTON, VA. — Aluminum Association President & CEO Heidi Brock was named Second Vice Chairman of the National Association of Manufacturer’s (NAM) Council of Manufacturing Associations (CMA). The announcement was made during CMA’s Winter Leadership Conference in Middleburg, VA.
The CMA is a vital component of NAM made up of more than 240 industry-specific manufacturing associations that provide resources and networks to members in order to broaden the reach of the NAM’s advocacy efforts. CMA members have also been a driving force in advancing the NAM’s workforce development and skills certification programs.
“I am honored to be serving in a leadership role for the CMA as we work to grow manufacturing in the United States,” said Brock. “Aluminum is a bellwether for domestic manufacturing in general and we’re excited about what the future holds.”
Demand for aluminum in the U.S. and Canada is up more than 30 percent since 2009 and is approaching pre-recession levels. A 2013 economic impact study showed that the U.S. aluminum industry supports 672,000 jobs and $152 billion in economic output, nearly 1% of Gross Domestic Product. Aluminum industry jobs are high quality, advanced manufacturing jobs. Workers in the industry earn average compensation of more than $77,000 versus the national average of $43,000.
Brock will serve with Ernie Rosenberg, President & CEO of the American Cleaning Institute who was named as Chairman of the CMA Board of Directors. Thomas Gibson, president and CEO of the American Iron and Steel Institute, was elected vice chair. Donna Harman, president and CEO of the American Forest & Paper Association, becomes the immediate past chair. Three new members were added to the CMA Board of Directors, including Marty Durbin, CEO of America’s Natural Gas Alliance; Roy W. Hardy, executive vice president of the Forging Industry Association; and Daniel L. Twarog, president of the North American Die Casting Association.
